This lens dose what it is told to do by the photographer, not the camera This is a review of a lens that is the result of tech that is at least 25 years old. With that in mind. This lens requires interaction between the photographer the camera and film or by the processes of today the sensor. The photographers of the time this came out were expected to be cognoscente as to the aperture setting as well as focus. And the camera depended on the operator for it’s set-up and focus. Not the other way around like things are today. So a person having mastered the skills of light manipulation will have no problems generating wonderful imagery. I use this lens primarily for night rain images. I prefer the F:2 version but with a higher power strobe I attain the same results, as the lens that cost about $300.00 more. And mostly what I respect about this lens is that it dose what I tell it to do and not what the firmware in the camera tells it to do. Also the new glass coatings that are designed to eliminate lens flares etc things that some people might feel flaws the image I however do not see things that way. I like the effects that the so called flaws can achieve. With this lens I can focus on the things that I want in focus. Not the things that the camera thinks should be in focus. If you are a photographer adept at bending light to your will you will want this lens or you already have it.

Great colors and cheap vintage wide angle lens Very nice pictures from this lens!
Buyer be aware when adapting this to a DSLR camera: On some adaptors, a small arm holds the stop-down lever fully actuated at all times, mooting the DOF preview button. However some adaptors come without that arm. With those adapters, the shooter will have to MANUALLY depress the DOF preview button (on the side of the lens) just before shooting. This allows the lens to focus while the lens is wide open, without turning the aperture ring back and forth all the time.
