Tokina AF 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5

(7 customer reviews)

This camera glass is a versatile option for photographers who want to capture wide angle shots. It has a range of focal lengths from 20mm to 35mm. It can be used for landscape, architecture, and interior photography. The bokeh or out of focus areas of the photo lens are decent but not exceptional. It can be used for both autofocus and manual focus. It has 12 lens elements in 9 groups, which is a good number for a photographic lens. The lens coating is multi-coated, which helps reduce reflections and glare. It is a well-built camera glass with a solid build quality. The manufacturing time is not known. The aperture ranges from f/3.5 to f/4.5, which is average for this type of lens. The resolution is good, but not exceptional. Overall, this optics is a good option for photographers who want a wide angle zoom lens for their full frame camera. Some alternatives to this lens include the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM and the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED.

Positives:
– Versatile focal range: I also use this lens as a go-to for a variety of photography situations, including landscapes, portraits, and event photography.
– Solid build quality: The metal barrel feels sturdy and durable, and the focus and zoom rings are smooth to turn.
– Affordable price: Compared to other wide-angle zoom lenses, this is a great budget-friendly option.

Negatives:
– Not the sharpest lens: As mentioned in other reviews, this lens can lack sharpness compared to other lenses in its focal range. However, this is not a dealbreaker for me, as I think it still delivers good image quality overall.
– Focus is not always accurate: Sometimes the lens can struggle to focus on the right subject, especially in low-light situations. However, this is something that I’ve learned to work around with manual focus or using focus points.

Conclusion:
Overall, I’m very happy with this lens and think it’s a great value for the price. While it might not be the sharpest or fastest lens out there, it delivers good results and is a solid option for enthusiasts or hobbyists like me who don’t want to break the bank on expensive lenses.

Optical design

Has 6 aperture blades, this number of blades are commonly used. Having rounded blades provides out of focus circle shape closer to a circle. Average brightness in this league

Physical characteristics

Weights 500 grams so plan ahead, carry only if really necessary. With a lens filter diameter of 72 mm you are one step from the next standard filter size, buy step-up ring and bigger filter but you can chose from plenty options. 75 mm long, requires consideration if you want to carry in the camera bag.

Awesome lens for landscapes and portriots and semi close ups. This is my first experience with a lens with a 20-35 range. I found this lens to be awesome. I am not a pro but find my photos to be crisp and clear with little distortion. I use this lens with my canon 6D full frame camera for a winning combination. The build quality is as great as the pictures I get. The cost used at a little over $300. Was well worth the money. This is my walk around lens and I am happy with it. I read several reviews on this lens before buying it. They were mostly good reviews.

I like tokina pro lenses Have a few tokina for ff Sony. This is nice and wide for ff. Range limited on APS cameras. Mine needed focus tuning in camera -10/20. A99 then focuses fast and consistently, much better than on an older Sony a55.

go to this lens has become a go to along with my 50mm. i use this focal length for just about anything and this is definitely a great lens for value price. it isn’t the sharpest lens I’ve used, but does the job nicely and don’t regret purchasing by any means.
