Tamron AF 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 XR Di Aspherical IF

(4 customer reviews)

This camera glass offers a wide range of focal lengths from 28mm to 200mm, making it a versatile photographic lens for different shooting situations. It has aspherical lens elements that reduce distortion and improve image quality. The lens coating helps to reduce ghosting and flare, resulting in clearer and sharper photos. The build quality is decent, but not the most robust in the market. This lens has both autofocus and manual focus options, allowing the photographer to choose the best option for their needs. The aperture range of f/3.8-5.6 is good enough for most shooting situations, but it may not be ideal for low light conditions. The resolution is good, but not the best in the market. There are alternatives available in the market that offer better image quality, but at a higher price point. The manufacturing time of this lens is not specified. The bokeh, or the quality of the out-of-focus areas in the photo, is decent, but not the best. Overall, the Tamron AF 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 XR Di Aspherical IF is a decent option for those who want a versatile lens for their full-frame camera, but are on a budget.

Sure, here’s my review of the Tamron AF 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 XR Di Aspherical IF camera lens:

Positives:
– Inexpensive compared to similar lenses on the market
– Versatile range, making it a great all-around lens for everyday use
– Lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry around
– Good image quality, especially for the price
– Autofocus is quick and accurate, making it easy to use in various settings

Negatives:
– The zoom ring can be stiff at times, making it difficult to adjust
– Some chromatic aberration and distortion at the edges of the frame
– The aperture can be limiting in low-light situations, as it only goes down to f/3.8
– The build quality could be better, as it feels a bit cheap and flimsy

Conclusion:
Overall, I would recommend the Tamron AF 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 XR Di Aspherical IF lens as a budget-friendly option for those looking for a versatile all-in-one lens. While it has its limitations, the image quality and autofocus performance are good for the price point. However, if you’re a more serious photographer looking for top-notch image quality and build quality, you may want to consider investing in a higher-end lens.

Optical design

Has 7 aperture blades, mid-grade lenses usually have this amount of blades. Having rounded blades provides out of focus circle shape closer to a circle. Great choice mainly for good light conditions

Physical characteristics

With a lens filter diameter of 62 mm you are one step from the next standard filter size, buy step-up ring and bigger filter you may want to use a step-up ring and 67 or 77mm filter. Weights 354 grams so plan ahead, carry only if really necessary. 75 mm long, requires consideration if you want to carry in the camera bag.

Good Lens I bought this lens a few weeks ago. It is a good lens, not the best, but for someone who isn’t looking to break the bank on a lens I think this one is a really good choice. Since it is 28-200mm you have a lot of zoom power at your disposal that would probably take 2 lenses to achieve otherwise. It is versatile and the silver body design is quite nice.

Tamron A03M For Minolta and Sony ALPHA I purchased this lens because it was inexpensive ($150) compared to its next-in-line 28-300($496). It became the ONLY lens I used.
