Tamron AF 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 XR Di Aspherical (IF) Macro

(4 customer reviews)

This lens is a versatile option for photographers who want to cover a wide range of focal lengths without changing lenses. It has a macro function that allows for close-up shots of small subjects. The lens has multiple glass elements that help to reduce distortion and improve image quality. The lens coating helps to reduce glare and increase contrast. The autofocus system is fast and accurate, but it also has a manual focus option for more control. The lens has a variable aperture, which means that the maximum aperture changes depending on the focal length. The build quality is good and the lens is durable. The resolution is decent, but not the best in its class. There are other options available that may offer better image quality, but they may also be more expensive. Overall, this lens is a good choice for photographers who want a versatile zoom lens with macro capabilities.

Here is my review of the Tamron AF 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 XR Di Aspherical (IF) Macro camera lens:

Positives:
– The price is very affordable, making it a great option for budget-conscious photographers.
– The lens is lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry around.
– The zoom range is versatile and can cover a wide range of shooting situations.
– The macro function is a nice added bonus, allowing for close-up shots.

Negatives:
– The autofocus can be slow at times, especially in low light conditions.
– Optical quality is not as good as more expensive lenses, with some distortion and softness at the edges.
– The build quality is not as durable as more expensive lenses, with some plastic components.

Conclusion:
Overall, the Tamron AF 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 XR Di Aspherical (IF) Macro camera lens is a good option for beginners or amateur photographers who are looking for a versatile and affordable lens. However, more serious photographers may want to invest in a higher quality lens for better optical performance and durability.

Optical design

Has 7 aperture blades, mid-grade lenses usually have this amount of blades. Having rounded blades provides out of focus circle shape closer to a circle. Great choice mainly for good light conditions Thanks to the macro capabilities this lens can make tiny things look big.

Physical characteristics

75 mm long, requires consideration if you want to carry in the camera bag. Weights 354 grams so plan ahead, carry only if really necessary. With a lens filter diameter of 62 mm you are one step from the next standard filter size, buy step-up ring and bigger filter you may want to use a step-up ring and 67 or 77mm filter.

Good Lens I bought this lens a few weeks ago. It is a good lens, not the best, but for someone who isn’t looking to break the bank on a lens I think this one is a really good choice. Since it is 28-200mm you have a lot of zoom power at your disposal that would probably take 2 lenses to achieve otherwise. It is versatile and the silver body design is quite nice.

Tamron A03M For Minolta and Sony ALPHA I purchased this lens because it was inexpensive ($150) compared to its next-in-line 28-300($496). It became the ONLY lens I used.
