Tamron AF 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 Aspherical LD IF 571D

(6 customer reviews)

This camera glass has a wide focal range from 28mm to 200mm, making it a versatile photographic lens. It has an aspherical element which reduces distortion and improves image quality. The lens coating helps to reduce flare and ghosting, which can occur when shooting towards bright light sources. The build quality of this lens is good and it feels sturdy in the hand. It has both autofocus and manual focus options, giving the photographer more control. The aperture ranges from f/3.8 to f/5.6, which means it is not the fastest lens available, but it is still capable of producing good bokeh (out-of-focus areas). The resolution of this lens is good, but it may not be as sharp as some of the more expensive alternatives. The manufacturing time of this lens is not known, but it has been available for several years. Overall, the Tamron AF 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 Aspherical LD IF 571D is a good option for photographers who want a versatile lens without breaking the bank.

as follows:

Positives:
– Good value for its performance and range
– Aspherical LD and IF (Internal Focus) technology improve image quality and reduce distortion
– Decent sharpness if stopped down a bit
– Compact and lightweight design makes it a convenient lens to carry around
– Compatible with most APS-C and full-frame DSLRs

Negatives:
– Chromatic aberration is noticeable at the wider end
– The aperture is not very fast, so low light performance is average
– Autofocus can be slow and noisy in low light situations
– Build quality feels a bit flimsy compared to more expensive lenses

Conclusion:
The Tamron AF 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 Aspherical LD IF 571D lens is a solid and versatile lens for those who want a decent zoom range (28-200mm) without breaking the bank. It is ideal for outdoor photography and casual shooting, and it delivers decent image quality and sharpness. However, it has some quirks in low light situations and can suffer from chromatic aberrations. Overall, it is a great value lens that is worth considering if you want to have access to a versatile zoom range without spending too much.

Optical design

Has 6 aperture blades, this number of blades are commonly used. Having rounded blades provides out of focus circle shape closer to a circle.

Physical characteristics

Weights 465 grams so plan ahead, carry only if really necessary. 82 mm long, requires consideration if you want to carry in the camera bag. With a lens filter diameter of 72 mm you are one step from the next standard filter size, buy step-up ring and bigger filter but you can chose from plenty options.

I have the 28-300 ( Mdl A06 ) for the Nikon cameras and I have found that the older film lenses are better than the newer (AF-S ) type lenses I do feel that the newer lenses that have the Auto focus in the lens was not good I liked it when the auto focus motor was it the camera body and you could use any of the Nikon lenses without problems, but getting back to the Tamron lenses I think it is a fine lens nice and sharp and works fine with my D 100, 50, 70, and 80 cmaeras I have had them all and I have had the Nikon 18-200 VR I do feel the Tamron is sharper and as for the VR if you do the same as we used to do before VR all you needed to do was to set the shutter speed higher and that took care of the shake. Tamron AF 28-200- wonderful lense I bought the AF 28-200 that I found on ebay instead of buying a new 18-200 lense. I love this lense!! It is pretty much the only lense I use now unless I pull out my 70-300 for longer shots. It takes clear, crisp images under all the conditions I have used. Yes, it is not super fast under low light but it is acceptable and I use a flash or tripod under low light. For the zoom function it takes amazing shots and these have all been hand held. I am not a professional photographer but have been taking photographs for a few decades so I do know a bit about cameras and lenses. I would highly recommend this lense.

Tamron makes OK lenses Update 6-6-12 Since writing the original review we have come a long way in our photography business. Now that we use professional level cameras and lenses when we look back at the photos we were taking with out Tamron lenses they are embarrassing in comparison. Tamron lenses are usually cheaper than the manufacturer lenses that were made for your camera… do yourself a favor, save up some more money and buy the better glass!

A good value film era lens that covers a good range for outdoors on a DSLR. I bought this for my son to use on the film SLR that I gave him to mess around with. For him it is a perfect all around lens. I have been stealing it from him for my K5 when I want to go around without my bag.
