Tamron AF 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 Aspherical

(7 customer reviews)

This camera glass has a versatile focal length range of 28-200mm, making it a good choice for a variety of photographic situations. It has aspherical lens elements, which help to reduce distortion and improve image quality. The lens coating helps to reduce ghosting and flare, improving contrast and color accuracy in photos. It is a well-built lens, with good build quality, and can produce good resolution images. The lens has both autofocus and manual focus capabilities, giving photographers the option to choose their preferred focus method. The aperture range is f/3.8-5.6, which is suitable for good lighting conditions. The manufacturing time for this photographic lens is not specified. There are alternative lenses available in the market with similar focal length ranges and aperture values, but with different mount options. The bokeh, or the quality of the out-of-focus areas in the image, is good but not exceptional.

Positives:
– Small and lightweight design makes it easy to carry around all day.
– Versatile all-in-one lens allows you to capture a wide range of shots without switching lenses.
– Affordable price point compared to other similar lenses on the market.
– Build quality is good and feels durable.
– Autofocus is fast and accurate.
– Good value for the money.

Negatives:
– Image quality is not as good as Nikkor lenses, especially when zoomed in.
– Softness and loss of sharpness around the edges, especially at wider apertures.
– Not suitable for low-light situations due to the limited aperture range.
– Some chromatic aberration and distortion can be visible in the images.

Conclusion:
The Tamron AF 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 Aspherical Camera Lens is a great choice for photographers who want an affordable all-in-one lens to carry around. The small and lightweight design makes it easy to carry around all day without any extra weight. However, the image quality is not as good as Nikkor lenses, especially when zoomed in, and there’s some visible chromatic aberration and distortion. Despite these drawbacks, it’s still a good value for the money and a great choice for photographers who want a versatile and budget-friendly lens.

Optical design

Has 6 aperture blades, this number of blades are commonly used. Having rounded blades provides out of focus circle shape closer to a circle. Great choice mainly for good light conditions

Physical characteristics

Weights 465 grams so plan ahead, carry only if really necessary. 82 mm long, requires consideration if you want to carry in the camera bag. With a lens filter diameter of 72 mm you are one step from the next standard filter size, buy step-up ring and bigger filter but you can chose from plenty options.

Tamron 28-200mm Very satisfied with this lens with its wide focal range although the focusing ring is a bit stiff for fine tuning. Images are sharp relative to camera used, more than adequate for A4 prints. Overall, a great lens for run-around use. Recommend.

OK lens for the price The lens is a good starter lens but there are a few issues. It is a stop or two darker than my nikon. It hunts for focus a bit and is a bit slower in focus. Pictures in the 70-150 are fairly sharp but soft above 150. All in all I’ve taken some good photos with it and I still keep it on a second body but I don’t use it much anymore.

New Glass, New life for a trusted Pentax Spotmatic !! The Tamron 28-200 AF-D LD Aspherical lens I purchased had been converted to a Pentax screw mount. I purchased it for my very old Pentax Spotmatic 35mm film camera. I am excited to find a very modern, high powered optic. This is a very compact, lightweight zoom. I just love the fact that it mounts and works well with such an old camera. I am in love with the lightweight compared to older glass for this style of lens mount. I cannot say enough on how glad I am able to move up with new lens technology without leaving my trusty Pentax 35mm film camera.

Well built and smooth The lens feels, well built and solid. Focuses quickly. Zoom is very smooth. It has become my go to lens on my D7000.

Great all day lug a long lens. very small and lightweight. great all in one lens when you don’t want to lug your camera bag.
Picture quality not quit as good as a nikkor but for the price and my intended use a great lens. This is my 3rd Tamron and very satisfied with all 3.
