Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC B018

(3 customer reviews)

The lens has a wide focal range of 18-200mm, making it a versatile option for different types of photography. It has both autofocus and manual focus capabilities, giving the user more control over their shots. The lens is made up of multiple lens elements with a special coating to reduce reflections and improve image quality. The build quality is good and the lens feels sturdy in the hand. The maximum aperture of f/3.5-6.3 allows for decent low light performance. The lens has a good resolution, producing sharp images. There are alternative lenses available with similar focal ranges, but they may vary in terms of price and quality. Overall, the Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC B018 lens is a good option for those looking for a versatile and reliable camera glass.

Positives:
As an enthusiast photographer, I have to say that I was truly impressed with the Tamron 18-200mm lens. The image quality is outstanding, with sharpness, contrast, and color rendition that rival some of my vintage Nikkor lenses. The color fringing, distortion, and vignetting are well-controlled and can be easily corrected in post-processing if needed. I also appreciated the VC (Vibration Compensation) feature, which helped me to shoot handheld at slower shutter speeds and still get sharp images. The autofocus is fast, accurate, and quiet, which is great for capturing spontaneous moments or events.

Negatives:
While I think this lens represents great value for its price, there are a few things that some photographers might find limiting. First, the maximum aperture range (f/3.5-6.3) is not particularly fast, especially at the longer end of the zoom range. This means that low-light situations or action shots might require higher ISOs or slower shutter speeds to achieve the desired exposure. Second, the lens barrel extends quite a bit when zooming, which can make it feel a bit unbalanced on smaller camera bodies. Third, there’s no full-time manual focus override, which means that you have to switch the AF/MF button on the lens to manually focus.

Conclusion:
Overall, I think the Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC B018 camera lens is a great choice for photographers who want a versatile, high-quality lens at an affordable price. It’s perfect for travel, street photography, or casual shooting, where you want to have a wide range of focal lengths without changing lenses. If you’re looking for a lens with a faster maximum aperture, better weather sealing, or higher-end build quality, you might want to consider other options in Tamron’s lineup or from other brands. But for the price, this lens is hard to beat in terms of its performance and value.

Great quality and value. I’ve used Tamron lenses for years with zero complaints. The quality rivals my Nikor lenses in every category, except price. The 18-200 lens is a light weight, versatile tool that any photographer would welcome into his quiver. Wide angle team shots and up close solo performance shots are easily accomplished with this lens. Great value!
