This camera glass is a zoom lens that can be used for taking photos from a distance. It has an adjustable focal length that ranges from 55mm to 200mm. The aperture of the lens ranges from f/4 to f/5.6, which means it can capture photos in low light conditions. The lens has a good build quality and is made of high-quality glass elements. It has a good resolution and can capture sharp and clear photos. The lens coating helps to reduce glare and reflections, which can improve the quality of the photos. The lens can be used for autofocus or manual focus, depending on your preference. The bokeh, or the quality of the out-of-focus areas in the photo, is good. The manufacturing time of the lens is not mentioned, but it is a popular lens that has been around for a while. There are alternative lenses available from other manufacturers that offer similar features.

Positives:
– Good value for the price: This lens offers good quality and versatility at an affordable price, making it a good option for beginner and intermediate photographers who want to expand their lens collection.
– Lightweight and compact: The lens is relatively small and lightweight, which makes it easy to carry around and handle. It’s also a good size for pairing with the Sony Alpha A330 camera or similar models.
– Good zoom range: The 55-200mm zoom range is suitable for a variety of photography styles, from portraits to landscapes to wildlife. The lens also has a minimum focus distance of 0.95m, which allows for close-up shots.

Negatives:
– Average image quality: While the lens produces decent images overall, it’s not the sharpest or most detailed lens out there. Some users have reported softness or blurriness at certain focal lengths or apertures.
– Slow autofocus: The autofocus on this lens can be slow and noisy, which can make it challenging to capture fast-moving subjects or action shots. This is particularly noticeable in low light situations.
– Average build quality: The lens is made of plastic rather than metal, which can make it feel less durable or sturdy. Some users have also reported that the zoom mechanism can feel stiff or loose.

Conclusion:
Overall, the Sony DT 55-200mm f/4-5.6 lens is a good starting point for expanding your lens collection and trying out different photography styles. It’s lightweight, affordable, and versatile enough for a variety of situations. However, it’s not the highest quality lens on the market and may struggle in certain situations. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option or a beginner lens, this is a good choice, but if you’re a more advanced photographer or looking for professional-level image quality, you may want to invest in a higher-end lens.

Better than you’d think This is an affordable medium telephoto lens that is much more sharp than I expected. Having previously purchased a 50mm dedicated portrait prime lens which is tack sharp, I found the sharpness on this lens impressive enough to choose it over my prime for most portrait work. If you step back and zoom in on your subject it renders nice out of focus backdrops. I used it at multiple concerts and events and it performed very well especially in good light. For more intimate events you’ll likely want a 24-70 to cover a wider range. If you are shooting in low-light there are better options. For daylight telephoto medium to long reach and sharp results at an affordable price, it’s difficult to beat this lens!

Crazy Bang for the Buck‼️ I cannot imagine how this lens can be had in like new condition for $30. Functionally outstanding as far as focus speed & full integration with the a77II, lightweight, & mind boggling ease of use when compared with older Minolta & Sony offerings. What it lacks in expensive build,, metal, & high end crisp images, it more then makes up for focal range & fitting well in multiple situations. As a long time collector of A mount lenses I deem this one a best buy for 98% of of the internet posting, “Joe walk around”, Sony A crop sensor digital photographers out there.

Sony SAM lense affordable and capable of good IQ if you learn how to use it The new range of Sony’s standard “kit” lens with SAM are fantastic for their price, granted they will not give you the IQ of a G or Zeiss but in the right conditions and hands, they can certainly come very close. When I travel with my A57, the SAL 1855,55200,50/1.8 and 35/1.8 SAMs are always in my bag, helps a great deal that they are so light and affordable, which offsets the plasticky and not so solid build of the lense. Anyone who tells you they are no good actually doesn’t know how to use them or is only interested in gear snobbery.

One of my favorite lenses. This is my favorite outdoor lens. For the price it is a great purchase. It will focus quickly and accurately on my A33. I bought this to replace an old Minolta 100-200 f4.5. The Sony lens is better all around except it has a little slower f-stop at the longer lengths. The Sony has a lot less purple fringing, than the Minolta. I have not used, or wanted to use, the Minolta lens since I bought this. No lens does everything, but I find this lens very versatile for outdoor photography. For indoor photography it is has too long of focal length for family gatherings and such.

good start to rounding out your Alpha My wife wanted a DSLR camera and after alot of research we chose the Sony Alpha A330. The camera is great easy to use. It didn’t take long to go from just point and click to experimenting with apitures, distance, forground, background etc. The next step was to get different lens so this DT 55-200mm seemed like a good start. The new lens has opened up more picture taking than we expected getting those close up shots of faces or nature without moving physically closer so we don’t loose the shot we see. Love the lens, will definately be buying more.
