Sigma DG C 100-400mm f/5-6.3 OS HSM

(6 customer reviews)

The Sigma DG C 100-400mm f/5-6.3 OS HSM is a camera glass that can zoom in very far, making far away subjects appear closer. It has a feature that helps stabilize the camera and reduce blur when taking pictures. It can focus on subjects automatically or manually. The glass inside the lens is coated to reduce reflections and improve image quality. It is well-built and can last a long time. It can create a nice blurry background behind the subject, which is called bokeh. The lens has many elements inside it that help create a clear and sharp image. It takes some time to make the lens because it is a complex piece of equipment. The lens can change how big the opening is that lets light into the camera, which is called the aperture. This can help make the picture brighter or darker.

of the manual lens Canon FD 50mm f/1.4:

Positives:
– The lens is extremely well-built, with a metal body and smooth focusing ring.
– The image quality is superb, with great color rendition and sharpness.
– The f/1.4 aperture allows for a lot of creative possibilities, especially when shooting in low light conditions.
– The lens produces a beautiful, creamy bokeh that is great for portraits.

Negatives:
– The lens is completely manual, which means that you have to adjust the focus and aperture yourself. This can be time-consuming and tricky to get right.
– The lens is not compatible with modern Canon DSLR cameras without an adapter, which can be an extra expense.
– Some people may find the 50mm focal length limiting for certain types of photography.

Conclusion:
Overall, the Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 is an excellent vintage lens that produces stunning image quality and creative opportunities. It may not be the most convenient or versatile lens, but it is definitely worth the effort for anyone who appreciates the character and charm of vintage lenses.

Optical design

It is a ring-type ultrasonic motor designed to provide quick and silent focusing. Not the best in low light conditions but the lack of high aperture can be compensated with higher iso

Outstanding performance for price and physical size Was reading other rave reviews for this lens. They are right on. Extremely sharp at all focal lengths. Sigma hit a home run on this one. Construction seems robust and lens has a good feel in your hands. Amazing to get the focal length and performance in a lens this size and at the price point. 100% satisfied.

A must have for sports and wildlife! This lens is so sharp. It is portable and covers a good range of focal lengths. It would be wise to also get the dock as this can greatly improve the OS experience. Although it costs more, this lens is a “no brainer” replacement for any of the 70-300mm lenses.

A miniature 150-600 Sport. Awesome lens. I am amazed at the quality of images produced at all settings. In fact it does not have a bad setting – even 1.6 meters at 400mm at F6.3 – sharp. An even bigger surprise is that it works well with the 1401 converter at F11 and AF still works on my D500. A brilliant carry all day lens.
My main advice is set your AF micro adjust on the camera body first then tweak the final setting via the USB hub.
My D810 slightly upsets the OS at 1/90 – 1/180 – not the lenses fault. Even Nikon VR lenses have this problem when used with a D800 series camera. The D500 – no problem at all in this respect.

  5. Ebay.com [‘Sep 20, 2017’]

Best Value for a 100-400MM Zoom This lens looks, feels and handles like a 70-200MM 2.8. The focus is very fast for a zoom and it every bit as sharp as my Nikon 200-500MM. The color rendition is not as deep as the 200-500, but you would only notice this when comparing identical pictures side-by-side. If I could only have one zoom I would take this over the 200-500.

When quality exceeds price, we all win. As a Nikon wildlife photographer, nothing really can compare to the value, quality, sharpness and flexibility of this lens. Most importantly I can shoot wide open and have sharp-sharp images without having to stop down. That is a big advantage over other competitors on partial/cloudy days, sunrise and sunset photography, With a Nikon DX model, I’m getting 600 mm equivalent at the long end. Bottom line, this Sigma lens allows just about anyone to get high quality photos of wildlife at a extremely reasonable price point.
