(5 customer reviews)

This camera glass is a great option for taking close-up photos. It has a good quality build and produces sharp images with a nice bokeh effect. The lens elements are coated to reduce reflections and improve contrast. The manufacturing time is not mentioned, but it is a well-established model. The aperture is f/2.8 which allows for good low light performance. It can be used for both autofocus and manual focus, giving the photographer more control over their shots. The resolution is high, making it suitable for professional use. There are alternatives available in the market, but this lens is a good choice for those looking for a macro lens with good optics.

Positives: The Sigma 70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro lens is a remarkable piece of equipment for macro photography. It produces sharp and accurate images, which are perfect for capturing the details of flowers, insects, and other small objects. The lens offers a true 1:1 magnification ratio, which facilitates getting up close and personal with your subjects. The autofocus is quick and precise, while the manual focus is smooth and easy to use. The lens build quality is impressive and feels sturdy in your hands.

Negatives: The Sigma 70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro lens has a relatively slow autofocus in low light conditions. It can sometimes struggle to focus, which makes it challenging to capture moving objects or subjects that are not stationary. It also lacks image stabilization, which can sometimes lead to shaky shots when handholding the camera. The lens can be a bit heavy to carry around, especially for extended periods.

Conclusion: Overall, the Sigma 70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro lens is an excellent choice for anyone who is interested in macro photography. Excellent Bang for the Buck… Very sharp at all apertures; decent focal length for non-traditional macro shooting. The build quality is good (but not like a Voightlander or Zeiss). This older lens design does not use “OS” or image stabilization technology. Overall it is a fine macro lens for many applications.
