Sigma DC 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 HSM

(7 customer reviews)

This camera glass has a wide zoom range from 8mm to 16mm, which allows for capturing expansive landscapes and architecture. It has multiple lens elements, which helps to reduce distortion and chromatic aberration. The lens coating is designed to reduce ghosting and flare, which can be helpful when shooting in bright conditions. The build quality of this photographic lens is good, and it is designed to withstand regular use. The aperture range of f/4.5-5.6 is decent, but not ideal for low light situations. The resolution of this glass is good, and it can produce sharp images. There are other alternatives available in the market, but this lens is a good option for those looking for an ultra-wide zoom lens. It can be used for both autofocus and manual focus, depending on the photographer’s preference. Overall, this lens is a good option for those looking to capture wide-angle shots with their camera.

Positive:
The Sigma DC 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 HSM camera lens is a lot of fun to experiment with different perspectives. It provides a great wide-angle view that allows me to capture more in a single frame, which is perfect for landscapes and group shots. The lens hood is the same diameter as the lens, which makes it easy to fit in my old wide-angle lens bag. It adjusts itself perfectly to the zoom range, allowing me to take great shots at any focal length. I found the photos to be sharp with excellent contrast and infinite depth of field, which made my pictures come out looking great.

Negative:
One downside to this lens is that it doesn’t perform well in low light situations. I have found that the aperture is quite small, which can make it challenging to shoot in dimly lit rooms or during late evening or dawn. Additionally, the lens can be a bit heavy, making it challenging to carry around for extended periods.

Conclusion:
Overall, I would highly recommend the Sigma DC 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 HSM camera lens, especially if you need a high-quality wide-angle lens for your Canon or Nikon camera kit. Despite a few minor negatives, the versatility and excellent image quality that this lens provides make it an excellent choice for aspiring photographers and artists who want to try different perspectives and styles. If you are looking for an affordable and reliable wide-angle lens that can help you capture some fantastic shots, this is the lens for you.

With a lens filter diameter of 72 mm you are one step from the next standard filter size, buy step-up ring and bigger filter but you can chose from plenty options. Weights 555 grams so plan ahead, carry only if really necessary. 106 mm long, requires consideration if you want to carry in the camera bag.

Best APC Ultra Wide Angle in my Opinion Ordered this lens after researching all other reviews. My Canon 10-22mm was OK but the edges were all distorted. Shooting Commercial Real Estate is a side business and my Canon lens just wasn’t acceptable. When I started using my new SIGMA was I ever impressed. This is the widest and most rectilinear ultra wide angle I’ve ever used. If kept parallel the image produced lines that were perfectly straight. Even the crazy curved ceilings I got with the Canon came out looking straight and natural as you’d expect a correct image to look. Oh, an the extra 2mm really makes a difference in the amount of area you can cover. 20% more than the Canon. In Canon’s defense, it does allow for the use of filters were the SIGMA doesn’t and it doesn’t suffer nearly as much lens flare as the SIGMA. This is a great compliment to my lens collection, not a substitute though. I will continue to use my Canon for landscape photography but this SIGMA is always with me for shooting real estate. The price is great too!

True Ultra Wide Angle for Cropped Sensor Canon Camera This is the widest wide angle rectilinear lens available for Canon APS – C cameras. The range compared to a full frame camera equates to 12.8mm to 25.6mm zoom range. For close quarters shots inside buildings or super wide exterior landscape shots there is no better lens available.

May be the best lens buy I’ve ever made. A superior UWA for crop sensor cameras.
I am using this lens on a Canon 70D, and found it to be exemplary in most all conditions.
As with all UWA’s, some barrel distortion and vignetting is seen at 8mm, and wide open.
This easily matches the results I get with my Tokina 16-28mm on my full frame camera.
If you see another listed on EBay, grab it. Lots of bang for the buck.

Great Wide-angle lLns for Canon ES Mount (Sigma) Great condition, sharp wide angle lens with only mild vignetting at 8-9 mm

Fun to experiment with different perspectives. Great wide angle lens. Lens hood, same diameter as lens, makes it fit in my old wide angle with it’s wide hood. Accomplishes this by having the lens move in and out as zoomed with 8mm end being farthest out. This seems to effectively adjust the hood to the zoom range. Photos are sharp with excellent contrast and endless DOF.
