Sigma APO 150-500mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM

(7 customer reviews)

The lens has a good build quality and is made with high-quality glass elements. It has an optical stabilizer that helps to reduce camera shake and produce sharp images. The lens coating helps to reduce flare and ghosting, which can be a problem in bright sunlight. It is a versatile lens that can be used for wildlife, sports, and landscape photography. The resolution of the lens is good and produces sharp images. The lens is available for different camera brands, and there are alternatives available in the market. The lens has both autofocus and manual focus options. The bokeh produced by this lens is good, and it can create a nice background blur effect. The lens has a long manufacturing time, which means that it is a well-designed and well-crafted lens.

Positives:

Negatives:
– It’s quite heavy, which may be an issue for some

Conclusion:
The Sigma APO 150-500mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM is an excellent lens for photography enthusiasts who need a powerful zoom lens. While it may be heavy and have some limitations in low-light conditions, the overall performance is impressive. The image clarity and zoom capability are outstanding, making it a great choice for wildlife and sports photographers. Overall, I would definitely recommend this lens to others looking for a high-quality zoom lens.

Optical design

It is a ring-type ultrasonic motor designed to provide quick and silent focusing. Has 9 aperture blades, with this amount of aperture blades you will be satisfied with the result. Not the best in low light conditions but the lack of high aperture can be compensated with higher iso

Physical characteristics

Weights 1900 grams so it is a heavy lens, consider using its own lens bag. 252 mm long, with this size carry only if you use it. With a lens filter diameter of 86 mm finding lens filters in this range can be expensive consider using Cokin P system if you really need one.

For price Very Good I went ahead and got this used 150-500mm 5.6-6.3 lens as I, in my Older Age, am getting Lazy and wanted an auto focus with anti shake to replace my 25yr old Tokina 150-500 5.6 Manual lens. This Sigma lens had very good ratings, on sharpness and focus accuracy, and so far has proven itself to be true, as used on a Nikon D750, Photos are Excellent. He even included Camouflage jackets.. It was clean for it’s age, I have special cleaners, and now it looks like New..

great value for the money I have been wanting a long lens for some time. I had rented this lens on several occasions and was happy with the results. I use it on my Nikon 610 full frame and my d-300s dx camera with excellent results. Might not be quite as good as the new sigma 150-600 but it is a whole lot better on the wallet.

Sigma lenses are my favourite! Sigma lenses are my favourite! The Sigma 150-500mm is a bit on the heavy side as is my Sigma 150-600mm but that doesn’t bother me just brace your arms and shoot. Both take quality pictures of the many birds I take photos of. The only downfall with the 150-500mm is that the barrel lock only works at the 150mm and not at 500mm or any of the other settings but that is a small negative finding…all the rest is good, good value, good results!

A big lens and a big quality I used to own a Nikkor 70-300 vr and that had some crisp images in good sunlight. I would say this lens is just as sharp from 150mm to 300mm. Beyond 300mm it introduces a small amount of grain especially the more low light the shot becomes. However, for this price it can’t be beat. I’d buy it again. Beware it’s very large.

Heavy but… I love this lens…clarity is great, zoom capability is wonderful even zoomed all the way to 500mm. So happy with my purchase. It is heavy but can be handheld which is how I usually shoot
