Sigma AF Zoom 28-70mm f/2.8

(7 customer reviews)

The Sigma AF Zoom 28-70mm f/2.8 is a camera glass that can be used on full frame cameras. It has a high aperture value, which means it can capture bright photos. It has 9 aperture blades, which can produce good bokeh. It can be used with a 72 mm filter, which is a common size. It weighs 578 grams and is 93 mm long, so it may be heavy and bulky to carry around. The lens has autofocus capabilities, but it can also be used manually. It has multiple lens elements and coatings to improve image quality. The lens was manufactured at some point in time, but it is unclear when. The build quality is good, which means it is durable and can withstand regular use. It has good resolution, which means the photos it produces are sharp and clear. There are other lens options available, depending on the camera mount.

Positives:
As a photographer who enjoys using vintage photo lenses, I was pleasantly surprised by the sharpness and overall quality of this Sigma lens. The f/2.8 aperture allows for some beautiful depth of field, and the zoom range is quite versatile for a wide range of photography styles. I really appreciated the affordable price compared to some of the Sony lens equivalents that I had considered.

Negatives:
The main downside for me was the weight of the lens compared to my camera. It definitely takes some getting used to, and I found myself needing to use a tripod for certain situations. However, this is a minor inconvenience that I’m willing to overlook given the overall quality of the lens.

Conclusion:
Overall, I’m really impressed with the Sigma AF Zoom 28-70mm f/2.8 camera lens. It’s a great addition to my setup, and I’ve been getting some stunning shots with it. While the weight may take some getting used to, I think it’s a small price to pay for the quality and versatility of this lens. If you’re looking for an affordable yet high-quality zoom lens, I would definitely recommend giving this one a try.

Optical design

Has 9 aperture blades, with this amount of aperture blades you will be satisfied with the result. Bright lens thanks to the high aperture value

With a lens filter diameter of 72 mm you are one step from the next standard filter size, buy step-up ring and bigger filter but you can chose from plenty options. Great value Fantastic lens! Solid build quality and butter smooth focus ring.

The additional items are a nice bonus for an already great value-for-performance lens.

Not as sharp or as good an AF as I had hoped. It’s a nice solid lens, but the copy I got was not that sharp. Actually my Tamron 28-75 f2.8 G2 had a sharper picture and better AF. It could have just been a bad copy. It was a new lens however.

Worth the Extra Cost This is a Sigma “Art” lens, as opposed to one in the company’s lower-end, cheaper “Contemporary” series. The difference between the Art lenses and the regular lenses is obvious after only a few photographs. I am a professional artist and photographer, and I already own the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 Art lens, so this 20-70mm f/2.8 is the complement in what will eventually be the “holy trinity,” which include the 70-200mm f/2.8 Art lens. Once you have these lenses, you won’t want to go back to ordinary lenses. Images have that special “something” that spoils the discerning professional or advanced amateur. I have included two of my digital artworks that began with photographs using the Sigma 20-70mm Art lens. They’re worth the extra cost because they are, after all, really an investment in your talent.

Better than 24-70mm G Master The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG Art Lens is of very high building quality and gives very sharp image. Its sharpness and features are as good as if not better than the Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 G Master.

I am particularly fond of the lock switch. It is very handy, just need a twist to unlock it.

My first Sigma lens and I love it Love the sharp images and affordable price compared to the Sony lens equivalent. Only downside is the weight compared to the camera, but I think it’s something I could get used to.
