First sigma lens I got this lens at a very great price, even though this lens has been out of production for awhile now, mine is brand new display model. I am realitively new to photography and bought this for birding and other wildlife since I couldn’t afford the canon l series lens. The one thing I did notice is this lens needs light, unfortunately it is overcast here now so haven’t really got a true feeling of what it’s really capable of in good conditions . Another I did notice is lens aberration is a lot better then my kit zoom so that’s definitely a plus. I did read the af hunted alot on other post but have not had that issue although the motor is a bit loud but doesn’t bother me. Seems as fast as my Canon lens.

good lens but autofocus broke It’s a good lens when it works. I’ve only used it maybe five times and it already broke. The focus has always seemed to lock up after a while and I would either need to turn off and on my camera or detach and re-attach the lens to get it working again. This was seemingly a common problem as certain serial numbers were recalled back in 2010. But now after my five uses, it has just completely locked up and shut down. Pressing my focus button does nothing at all.

FANTASTIC for the price!!! Go for it !!! I decided to try this instead of the Canon 70-300 USM lens, for my new zoom lens. I love it !! It is huge and heavy – but I knew that going in and I don’t mind carrying it. I don’t like tri pods – and this guys works great hand held on my 7D. I use it so I can take candid’s of my kids without them knowing – else they don’t make a natural face. I LOVE IT – and ebay allowed me to find it and a great used price.

Great lens Love this lens and glad I bought it. Why spend thousands of dollars on a Canon lens when you can get just about the same quality from a cheaper lens. It’s nothing like a Canon lens but it’s pretty damn close. This will always be in my camera bag if not always on my Canon 80D.
