of the Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS (HSM) camera lens from your personal perspective.

Positives: The first thing that caught my attention about the Sigma 18-200mm lens is how compact and lightweight it is, making it perfect for travel and vacations. The zoom range is impressive, allowing me to capture wide landscapes and distant subjects without changing lenses. I was also impressed with the quality of the macro shots produced by this lens. The pictures came out sharp and detailed, with beautiful colors.

Negatives: While this lens is a great all-rounder, it can struggle in low light situations, especially at the longer end of the zoom range. I also noticed some fringing and distortion in some of my shots, but it was not significant enough to affect my overall enjoyment of using the lens.

Conclusion: Overall, I am very satisfied with the Sigma 18-200mm lens. It’s a versatile and affordable option for those looking for an all-purpose lens for travel, landscapes, and portraits. The image quality is excellent, and the convenience of not having to swap lenses is a great feature. If you’re looking for a lens that can do it all, then the Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS (HSM) is definitely worth considering.

Optical design

Full frame equivalent focal length is 27.0-300.0 mm. It is a ring-type ultrasonic motor designed to provide quick and silent focusing. Great choice mainly for good light conditions Has 7 aperture blades, mid-grade lenses usually have this amount of blades. Having rounded blades provides out of focus circle shape closer to a circle.

Physical characteristics

98 mm long, requires consideration if you want to carry in the camera bag. Weights 610 grams so it is a heavy lens, consider using its own lens bag. With a lens filter diameter of 72 mm you are one step from the next standard filter size, buy step-up ring and bigger filter but you can chose from plenty options.

Excellent all-round lens for vacation I’ve read all the professional reviews on the internet before deciding on the lens type, and I’m not going to copy them. There were 2 disappointed ones (one Christopher Frost Photography on YouTube, one semi-disappointed in TheDigitalPicture), and one of them reverted after this (Christopher Frost Photography, when doing comparison review of 6 lens, put these in 2nd place above just all the others, doing them a better justice). Most other reviews, including PCMag, ePhotozine and LensTip, were giving it high marks for its segment, some being positively surprised by the image that can be produced by such versatile lens. I’ve tried them on a relatively inexpensive Canon EOS 700D and I don’t think I can be much more satisfied for what I was looking for. These deliver very nice macro shots, the zoom range is huge for such small and light lens, and the quality of the resulting pictures is far above what’s needed for vacation memories, while the versatility allows capturing everything between a wide landscape and a bird far away.
