Rokinon 12mm f/2.8 ED AS IF NCS UMC Fisheye

(6 customer reviews)

Rokinon 12mm f/2.8 ED AS IF NCS UMC Fisheye is a camera glass that provides a unique fisheye perspective. It has a wide aperture of f/2.8, which makes it suitable for low light photography. This photo lens has 12 lens elements arranged in 8 groups, which helps to reduce distortion and chromatic aberration. The optics are coated with NCS and UMC coatings, which improve image quality by reducing ghosting and flare.

This photographic lens is a manual focus lens, which means that the photographer has to adjust the focus manually. It is not suitable for fast-paced action photography or for those who prefer autofocus lenses. However, it provides a great deal of control for photographers who prefer to manually focus their shots.

The build quality of this lens is good, and it is made of high-quality materials. It is a durable lens that can withstand regular use. The resolution of this lens is also good, which means that it can capture sharp and detailed images.

Alternatives to this lens include other ultra-wide lenses such as the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art lens or the Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM lens. These lenses have different features and characteristics, so it is important to choose the one that best fits the photographer’s needs.

Sure, here’s my review of the Rokinon 12mm f/2.8 ED AS IF NCS UMC Fisheye lens.

Positives:
– Exceptional build quality and solid construction that feels durable and long-lasting.
– The ultra-wide 12mm focal length is perfect for capturing expansive landscapes, architectural shots, and indoor spaces.
– The 180-degree diagonal field of view creates a unique and surreal fisheye effect that produces eye-catching images.
– Excellent image sharpness and color rendition, with minimal distortion and aberrations.
– Fast maximum aperture of f/2.8 allows for good low-light performance and creative depth of field effects.
– The lens is lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry around for outdoor shoots and travel photography.
– The price point is very reasonable, especially when compared to other fisheye lenses on the market.

Negatives:
– Due to the fisheye design, this lens isn’t suitable for every type of photography, and the exaggerated perspective can sometimes be overwhelming or too stylized.
– The manual focus-only design can be challenging for beginners or those used to autofocus lenses.
– The lens hood is not included and must be purchased separately, which can be a bit of an inconvenience.

Conclusion:
Overall, the Rokinon 12mm f/2.8 ED AS IF NCS UMC Fisheye lens is highly recommended for photographers who want to experiment with a unique and creative perspective, without breaking the bank. While it’s not a lens for every occasion, it’s perfect for specific types of photography, and its quality, versatility, and affordability make it a standout choice in its category.

A surprisingly sharp, wonderfully wide, and exceedingly versital lens 42 Megapixels of ultra-wide detail? Sure — I want it! This unusual lens is lots of fun and creates stunning pictures. I’ve heard there is a kick-starter 12mm flat-focus out there that will rock the planet, but this 12mm Fisheye flattens out nicely in post with the “Fisheye-Hemi” plugin with the additional advantage of having the “full fisheye” if you want it. I can’t tell you how often I keep the slightly distorted image without flattening — it really depends on the subject. Besides, the Rokinon 12mm F2.8 has a wonderfully controlled distortion that is really beautiful! It’s not your average 12mm fisheye. So versatility is a plus, and sharpness is a plus (corner to corner at 5.6), and did I tell you… It’s amazing for astro photography capturing a full-sky Milky Way that pops. It may not be my favorite lens… but it’s pretty damn close — and a bargain when all is said and done.
