Minolta AF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5

(8 customer reviews)

The Minolta AF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 is a camera glass that can be used with different camera mounts. It allows for autofocus and manual focus, which gives the photographer more control over the photo lens. The lens elements are of good quality, and the lens coating helps to reduce glare and improve image quality. The manufacturing time is not mentioned, but it is likely that it was produced in the 1990s or early 2000s.

The aperture of the photographic lens is f/3.5-4.5, which is decent for a mid-grade lens. The build quality is good, and the lens is durable enough to withstand regular use. The resolution of the optics is also good, which means that the photos taken with this lens will be sharp and clear.

There are alternatives to this lens, such as other zoom lenses or prime lenses. However, the Minolta AF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 is a good option for those who need a versatile lens that can be used for a variety of different types of photography. The bokeh, or the quality of the out-of-focus areas in a photo, is decent but not exceptional.

Overall, the Minolta AF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 is a good choice for those who want a mid-grade zoom lens that is versatile and produces good quality images.

Positives:
The Minolta AF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 camera lens is a great lens that lives up to its reputation. The lens has a good zoom range and a nice f4-f4.5 range that produces sharp and clear photos. Even at f5.6 to f7.1, the results are impressive. For its price (less than $100), the lens is a great value and an excellent addition to any camera kit.

Negatives:
The only downside to this lens is that it does not have a macro feature, which would have been great. Also, it cannot focus very close to the object, which may be limiting in some cases.

Conclusion:
Overall, the Minolta AF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 camera lens is an outstanding lens that produces high-quality images. Its zoom range and sharpness make it an excellent choice for casual and professional photographers alike. However, if you need a lens for macro photography or close-up shots, this may not be the best option. Finally, I would recommend using sites like www.dyxum.com to research lenses before deciding to buy.

Optical design

Has 7 aperture blades, mid-grade lenses usually have this amount of blades. Having rounded blades provides out of focus circle shape closer to a circle.

Physical characteristics

With a lens filter diameter of 62 mm you are one step from the next standard filter size, buy step-up ring and bigger filter you may want to use a step-up ring and 67 or 77mm filter. Weights 415 grams so plan ahead, carry only if really necessary.

Excellent value I bought this lens instead of Sony 24-70 F4 OSS. As I already have an Sony LAE 4 adapter, this lens was expected to serve the same purpose (except optical stabilization). After using the lens in my Sony A7R, i found the image to be sharp in focus and having the legendary Minolta colors. I am really happy.

I love this Lens I got this because it was a way cheaper alternative then the Canon or Rokinon or anything of that caliber I have a 50 millimeter 1.2 in the same brand and fell in love with the image that it produces I’ve already dropped it a couple of times and it’s held up well it does feel plasticy but as far as the image quality and sharpness it’s a very underrated lens

A great lens that covers most of your photo needs and provides quality too. This lens is so good I bought 2 so I could be absolutely sure of getting one !! In use, it has been rated by a reviewer of Sony A99 as “surprisingly sharp”.
Made by Minolta before they stopped camera development, it will work on all current Sony DSLRs and SLTs, as well as Minolta DSLRs and AF film cameras. Minolta lenseas are renowned for their beautiful colour reproduction.
Great walkabout lens – you may never need another lens !

Great walking around lens for a song Since I bought this lens to replace the 18-70mm kit lens, I have not taken this lens off my Sony A200 camera. The color and quality of the optics are far superior than my kit lens. This is a heavy all metal lens not plastic and weighs more than a pound so their is more weight to carry around. The only drawback for this lens is that if you are using DSLR with APSC sensor, this lens will become a 42-127.5mm for the Sony. On the low end, 42mm is not wide enough for Landscape pictures in some situation. The lens is cleaned and free of any scratches, mold and dust. It does not come with front and rear lens caps. The lens hood it comes with is for the 29-100mm Minolta lens and it very loose and does not stay on very well. There are 2 nicks with metal exposed on the front screw threads, but that is okay since I can hide them when using a UV filter.

Overall, this is a good deal for $65 including shipping and I got it in 2 days.

Very sharp Gem!!! I just got this lens a couple of days ago, have to say this lens is as good as everyone says it is. This lens has a good zoom range, nice f4- f4.5 range (f3.5 is only available from the 24mm to 28mm range), and when you stop it down to f5.6 to f7.1 you still get a good, sharp results. The only thing I don’t like is that you can’t get too close to the object yr trying to shoot, would have loved a macro feature on this lens. Either way, I would definitely purchase this lens as it is a great value ( I paid less than $100) and a great lens!

I used this site http://www.dyxum.com to do my research on this lens, and anyone wanting to research Minolta lenses should do the same.
