Asahi Takumar 135mm f/3.5

(7 customer reviews)

This camera glass has a good build quality and was manufactured a few decades ago. It has 4 lens elements in 4 groups, which is a simple but effective design. The lens coating helps to reduce flare and ghosting, which can be a problem in some lighting conditions. The aperture can be adjusted from f/3.5 to f/22, giving you some flexibility in controlling the depth of field. The bokeh, or the quality of the out-of-focus areas, is generally considered to be pleasant. This photographic lens is manual focus only, which means you need to adjust the focus yourself. However, this can be an advantage for some photographers who prefer more control over their shots. The resolution of this camera glass is generally considered to be good, especially when stopped down a bit. Overall, Asahi Takumar 135mm f/3.5 is a solid option for those who are looking for an affordable and reliable telephoto lens, but it’s important to note that it may not be compatible with all camera mounts. There are alternatives available in the market, but they may vary in terms of quality and price.

Positives:
The Asahi Takumar 135mm f/3.5 camera lens is a fantastic vintage lens that produces sharp and detailed images. The build quality is exceptional, with a sturdy metal construction that feels solid in the hand. Additionally, the focus ring is smooth and precise, making it easy to adjust focus. The lens produces a beautiful bokeh effect, which adds depth and dimension to images.

Negatives:
While the Asahi Takumar 135mm f/3.5 lens is an excellent lens overall, one drawback is its weight. It is a bit heavier than other lenses of similar focal lengths, which can be a bit cumbersome when shooting for extended periods. Additionally, some photographers may find the manual focus to be a bit challenging to get used to if they are used to autofocus lenses.

Conclusion:
Overall, the Asahi Takumar 135mm f/3.5 lens is an excellent addition to any vintage lens collection. It produces sharp and detailed images with a beautiful bokeh effect. However, photographers should be aware of the lens’s weight and the fact that it is a manual focus lens.

A wonderful vintage lens with a lot of utility still in it. I use this lens as a “tube lens” with infinite microscope objectives using an adapter (49mm filter threads) for extreme macro work. The images I’ve produced with this lens are sharp. f/8 seems to be the sweet spot from my experience. As a tube lens it works well with APS-C or equivalent sensors. However, there is too much vignetting when used with a full-frame sensor. I haven’t used it as a stand alone lens yet, but I suspect its images would be similarly sharp.

I wanted this lens for a long time. Going back to film, I wanted this lens for a long time, it is very compact and solidly built. Perfect companion for my Pentax P3 and P3n bodies, Very clean inside and out for a vintage lens.

A very very good lens Now this version is rare. I bought it in as-is condition with very cheap price. There is many fungus inside on both front and rear lens group. I have to disassemble and clean. Lucky that it is not difficult. After cleaning, it becomes a very good lens and I really like those pictures take with it. I sold it because I bought a 135/2.5 later. Even though, I also think it is really good and I’m lucky to have it for a short time. If I can find another in the future with reasonable price, I will buy it again.
